Copper is the most valuable metal that comes across our scales, and it is priced by the pound and by grade. The prices below are what Port Arthur Recycling is paying today — they come straight from the same pricing system our cashiers use, so the number you see here is the number you get at the window.
A lot of the copper we buy in the Golden Triangle comes out of plant maintenance, electrical work, and demolition: wire pulls, tubing, bus bar, and motor windings. Whether you are an electrician with a week of wire ends or a homeowner with a box of old pipe, the process is the same — drive up, weigh, get paid.

What We Accept
- Bare bright wire — clean, uncoated, unalloyed wire; the top copper grade
- #1 copper — clean pipe and tubing, heavy wire with no coating or fittings
- #2 copper — pipe or wire with paint, solder, or light oxidation
- Insulated copper wire — priced by recovery; heavier gauge generally earns more
- Not sure of the grade? Bring it in — we grade at the scale, in front of you
How Pricing Works
Copper is quoted per pound. Sorting before you arrive is the single best way to raise your payout: mixed loads get graded at the lowest grade present, while separated bare bright, #1, and #2 each earn their own price.
Copper markets move, and our board updates when the market does. Check this page or call before a big load — the price shown reflects the current buy price at our Port Arthur yard.
